Celina Brooks, 11, CAThis was my first time into middle school, and I was super scared! I had just graduated from 5th grade, and now, here was 6th grade. Everything seemed pretty scary- in books, authors were always talking about enemies, and bullies, and confusion- I didn’t want that to happen to me! So then I stepped into Summerfield Middle School. Everything in the school looked normal- but I wasn’t so sure. I went to my first class, and my homeroom teacher, Ms. Sullivan, helped calm my nerves down. Middle school wasn’t that scary! So I give this advice to everybody entering 6th grade- don’t be scared, relax, and have fun! It won’t be long till you enter high school…

My school threw an end-of-the-year pool party, and I was having so much fun. I was just getting out of the pool when I saw this person older than me who was on the diving board. He kept making little jumps, but never jumped into the pool. He was afraid, I think, but if he got off the diving board, he’d be humiliated! For 5 minutes he kept on doing that. I was getting irritated. This was endless. I was next on the diving board, but he wouldn’t jump! So, I just yelled, “JUMP ALREADY!!!” The guy looked startled, and he fell into the pool. Everyone wasn’t laughing at him, but at ME!!

Tonight was the biggest night of my life. Well, almost. It was my graduation. What really made me nervous was that this was all on tape. And if I messed up, people would so be laughing at me! I didn’t want that. As I was entering the gym, where the fifth grade graduation was held, I tripped over one of the huge banners that had fallen to the floor. Everyone was laughing at me, and worse…. it was ALL on tape!!!!!

I love tennis, and I’m very good at it. But my clumsiness always gets the better of me. It was during tennis class when it happened. I was hitting the ball with my racket, playing with this guy named Cameron. We were playing for so long that I never noticed the balls all around the court. So when I was about to swing my racket, I tripped on a tennis ball! Cameron started laughing, and my tennis teacher Mr. Birmingham was scolding me, “Hey! No tripping on the ball!” And EVERYONE (the parents- not to mention MY OWN PARENTS) were laughing, too!! So humiliating!!

I don’t like physical education (PE) and its never liked me. Every time I attend class, there is always something embarrassing that happens to me. This, so far, is my worst. My volleyball team (girls) and I just got new uniforms, and we were trying on the uniforms. I just tried on one of the uniforms, and it seemed a bit tight. But I shrugged it off. After all, my uniform fit right with my body shape! While I was on the volleyball court with the rest of my team, I jumped up to spike the ball, but then, you will never believe what happened…. my pants ripped WIDE open! I was so embarrassed! Worse, I was wearing a purple pig underwear, so everyone, from now on, calls me the “Pip-Pip Pig” girl!
