Story by the Writer’s Corner

Lyndsey Logan, age 12, arrived in her homeroom class, and sat down next to her best friend, Alicia Hayes. Alicia gave a wave, and then the note-writing began. She started and suddenly it happened.

I was staring out the window looking out seeing cars and shops the same exact day as yesterday at school when I came back from school I went to the cofee shop where my Mama and Auntie were. I got a cup of hot chocolate and sat down with them. I said: “Hi Auntie and Mama.” Auntie was having a cherry steamer, which was foamy hot milk with cherry flavored syrup. Mama was having hot coffee, three creams. Auntie took a sip of her cherry steamer and replied, “Hey, pancake. Just to tell you your cousin Ethan is coming to this coffee shop to drink with us. He’ll be arriving here from Massachusetts in just a few minutes. Can you go and get ready hot cocoa with whipped cream and marshmallows for him?” “Sure!” I cried, jumping from my seat.

I ran to the coffee counter and said to the plump little woman, Mrs. Bruntford, “Hot Cocoa, please, with marshmallows and whipped cream.” “Just a second.” Mrs. Bruntford responded. I was so excited. I couldn’t wait till Ethan came. He was the cutest of the cute. I brought the hot cocoa to Mama and Auntie’s table. Auntie was having a conversation with someone on the phone. I sipped my hot chocolate as I listened. “Are you sure?” Auntie asked. She paused for a while to listen to the caller. “But we are already at the coffee shop!” She paused again. Auntie sighed. “Lyndsey already made you hot cocoa! But I’ll guess it’ll be ok. See you then later.” Auntie put down her cell phone. “Ethan can’t make it to the coffee shop. He’s at Mama’s house right now. We’ll have to meet him there.” Auntie explained. “Then let’s go. Come on.” Mama said. I took my hot chocolate and went with them.

When I was in the car I noticed I really needed to go to the bathroom. But we were far from the coffee shop where there were bathrooms. So I waited till we got home.

When we did, I ran up the porch stairs and into the house. I ran up the stair case and went into the bathroom next to my room. I left the bathroom door opened because I knew that Auntie and Mama was downstairs and I was in a hurry. And I thought that Ethan was in a room not near the bathroom. But was I wrong! Ethan was touring in MY room, the room that was right next to the bathroom! And you know what happened next! Ethan came out of my room and was beginning to walk down the hallway when he saw the bathroom door opened. He was beginning to close the door when he poked his head in and peer into the bathroom. No! I thought. He was going to tour the bathroom now! And that was what exactly Ethan did. Ethan opened the lights and then looked around the bathroom. And then he saw me with my pants slipped down and my naked rear end on the toilet! He quickly ran out of the bathroom, eyes bulging!

I stared out the window one last time. I will promise to always close the bathroom door when I am peeing no matter what! I thought. I smiled and laughed when I recalled that embarrassing moment I’ve ever had once again, IN THE WORLD! But I just shrugged it off.

“So,” Lyndsey wrote on the sheet of paper to Alicia. “Like that?” Alicia peered over Lyndsey’s shoulder and nodded. Suddenly, Ms. Stone, the girls’ teacher whirled around. “Lyndsey! Alicia! What are you two doing?” Lyndsey groaned. “Here comes ANOTHER embarrassing moment!”

The End
